All clouds have a silver lining, right? Well yes, but only if there’s sunlight behind them. Often, the clouds we see in our lives are dark and gloomy, harbingers of a storm brewing in the distance. That’s why we don’t like clouds. More specifically, we don’t like dark clouds.

Most experiments fail. Most startups fail. Most founders fail. So living in startup-land can feel like you have a dark cloud looming over your head all the time, with a personalized thunderstorm to keep you awake at night. Whenever incessant failure plagues my days, weeks, and even months, I remind myself of this: no cloud stays dark forever. All storms pass away.

But, even if the cloud stays there for eternity, there is still something you can do to change its color. We are all looking for a little light to expose the silver lining. So, for all of us, you get to choose to be the sun.
