Are you happy with where you are today? This can be your job, your relationships, or your own self development. Perhaps you wished things were faster, better, higher or more complete. Sometimes we wished we had done more. Other times, we wished we were dealt a better hand.

At a startup, there is always something I wished was where we started. We may have a million in funding today. But, I wished we had it a year ago. Imagine what we could have done if we did. We may have hit a technical milestone today. But, I wish that that was where we started last year. Imagine where we will be right now. We want every success to have been history and every failure to never arrive.

But life in a startup is just like the rest of life. All we can do is accept where we are, define where we want to be, and step forward with our most earnest effort on the path. We don’t get to choose the cards we are dealt, just how we play the hand. So just play it the best way you can.
